The ferry runs seasonally from May through October. The ferry is a unique way to travel while enjoying panoramic waterfront views and easy access to Narragansett Bay’s most popular attractions. With our All-Day Pass, you can hop-on and hop-off as many times as you’d like in one day, giving you the freedom to explore each stop at your own pace! 

Where does the ferry stop?

Stop 1: Jamestown Village – A quaint charming town featuring local shops, and premier dining locations. 

Stop 2: Rose Island — A must visit destination featuring the Historic Rose Island Lighthouse & Fort Hamilton. Take a tour of the lighthouse and the Island, bring a picnic lunch, and  look for sea glass along the shoreline. This hidden treasure is a must-see unique experience. 

Stop 3: Fort Adams State Park – One of Newport’s most popular state parks. Hop-Off the ferry and take a guided, or self guided tour of the fort, or Explore the Bay Walk — a two mile loop of the Fort grounds featuring beautiful views of the East Passage of Narragansett Bay and Newport Harbor. 

Stop 4: Ann Street Pier (Downtown Newport) — A great stop for exploring Newport’s famous shops, restaurants, and historic attractions. This stop is located on the back side of the Sailing Museum which is a family-friendly interactive museum for all ages! 

Stop 5: Perrotti Park (downtown Newport) – Located in the heart of Newport, Perrotti Park provides easy access to Bowen’s Wharf, America’s Cup Avenue and Thames Street. 

Whether you’re spending the day exploring Fort Adams, Rose Island, Museums — or simply hopping between Newport and Jamestown for dining and shopping, the ferry makes it easy to maximize your time, while avoiding parking hassles. 

How the Ferry Works: 

Step 1: Purchase your ticket online:

To save time, we recommend purchasing your ferry ticket online in advance. Schedules vary by season, so be sure to check the most up-to-date Spring, Summer and Fall schedules on our website before planning your trip!

Step 2: Arrive at your Departure Location: 

Once you have purchased your ticket, head to one of our five departure locations. We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes prior to departure since boarding is on a first-come, first-served basis until the vessel reaches maximum capacity. Be sure to check our seasonal schedules online. 

Important Timing Notes: 

  • The last pick-up of the day is at 4:10 PM 
  • The last pick-up at Fort Adams is 5:15 PM (unless there is a special event like the Newport Folk and Jazz Festival) for Express Transportation Events please click here. 

Step 3: Hop Aboard & Take in the Beautiful Sights 

Once onboard, present your ticket to the deckhand — no need to print it out if you have it on your phone! Then, sit back, relax and enjoy the ride! 

How you use your ticket is up to you! 

  • You can hop-off at any stop you’d like (be sure to note the ferry schedule for pick-up times)
  • Stay onboard, and enjoy the scenic Newport Harbor and Jamestown shoreline
  • Grab a refreshment from our onboard bar

The Jamestown Newport Ferry offers discounted evening tickets after 4 PM, making it the perfect way to travel while soaking in golden hour on the Bay. Evening Route Schedule Adjustments: 

After 4:30 PM, the ferry primarily runs between Jametown and downtown Newport (Ann Street Pier and Perrotti Park). Keep in mind that the last pick-up at Rose Island is 4:10 PM and the last pick-up at Fort Adams is 5:15 PM. 

*Important to note, that evening special discounted tickets are not available during the Newport Folk and Jazz Festivals.
