Stop 2: Rose Island Lighthouse
The ferry provides the only public transportation to this island. Fort Hamilton and the fully restored and functional lighthouse are open daily, May through October. Regular daily visits (during the season) include a general information tour by their island greeters or you can grab a self-guided tour brochure and explore the grounds on your own. The island is a great place to enjoy beach combing, looking for sea glass, fishing, bird watching and swimming (no lifeguard). Picnic tables and public toilets are available. If you plan on visiting Rose Island you will need to purchase a roundtrip Jamestown Newport Ferry Hop-On Hop-Off ticket as well as a separate Rose Island Landing Fee ticket.

Stop 3: Fort Adams State Park
The Newport Folk and Jazz Festivals (we provide express service to both) are hosted here, however, the fort also provides a visual record of military history from the 1820s to the end of WWII. The walls of the fort, the “listening tunnels,” and panoramic views of Narragansett Bay combine to make this an interesting and educational stop. Guided tours are available. Jamestown Newport Ferry departures are from Alofsin Pier, 90 Fort Adams Drive, Fort Adams State Park. There is plenty of parking here! See our FAQ section for more parking information.
